Please complete the registration questions after selecting your ticket. Beverage and pastry choices will be prepared in advance.

Making new friends as an adult is uniquely difficult.

Many social spaces are loud, unstructured, centered around drinking, or built around the expectation that conversation should somehow happen effortlessly. Without the insulation of a college campus or workplace, it’s virtually impossible to meet people organically.

Make & Meet is designed to offer another option.

Every Body Therapy and Still Life are bringing together a small group of adults for an afternoon of beginner-friendly pottery, thoughtful conversation, drinks and pastries, and dried-flower arranging in Still Life’s private studio in Gowanus.

The event is designed to make connecting feel easier without making it forced. You will have something creative to do with your hands, optional conversation cards to draw from, and plenty of space for conversation to develop naturally. There is no pressure to perform, network, share anything deeply personal, or arrive with a sliver of artistic experience or social confidence.

About the collaboration

Every Body Therapy and Still Life share a commitment to creating thoughtful public experiences where people can gather, create without the pressure of being good at it, and build meaningful connections within their community.

Every Body Therapy brings an understanding of relationships, belonging, group dynamics, and the very real difficulty of meeting new people in adulthood. Still Life brings a warm, artist-led space built around creativity, curiosity, coffee, and hands-on learning.

Make & Meet brings those strengths together to cultivate a social experience with enough structure to help conversation begin and enough ease for the afternoon to remain whimsical, relaxed, and genuinely enjoyable.

What you’ll make

Ceramic artist and instructor Anjuli Wright will guide the group through creating a small slab-built ceramic vase. Anjuli teaches beginner-friendly handbuilding courses and workshops at Still Life, and no previous pottery experience is needed.

You will shape and decorate your piece with underglaze and have the option to stamp a word into the clay. It can be something meaningful, grounding, playful, or connected to what you would like to carry forward from the experience.

Still Life will glaze and fire each vase after the workshop. Finished pieces will be watertight and suitable for fresh or dried flowers. Still Life will contact guests directly when their pottery is ready for pickup, approximately three weeks after the event.

Your ticket includes

  • A guided, beginner-friendly pottery workshop

  • All clay, tools, decorating materials, glazing, and firing

  • One beverage and pastry from Still Life

  • Therapist-created connection cards available throughout the afternoon

  • A dried-flower bar for creating a small arrangement to take home

  • Your finished ceramic vase, available for pickup after firing

What the afternoon will feel like

We will begin with time to settle in, pick up your preordered drink and pastry, and meet the people seated near you. After a brief welcome, Anjuli will demonstrate the pottery project and guide everyone through building and decorating their vases.

Once the hands-on portion begins, optional connection cards will be available at each table. Use them as much or as little as you like. Toward the end of the workshop, the dried-flower bar will open so guests can create an arrangement while finishing their pieces and continuing to mingle.

The gathering is limited to 15 guests to keep the experience intimate, comfortable, and genuinely conducive to conversation.
