I’m Lauren, founder of
Every Body Therapy
One thing I hear often from clients is that they feel comfortable with me right away, as if we’ve already known each other for a long time. That sense of ease and trust is what makes it possible for me to be both deeply compassionate and direct when it matters. I don’t shy away from saying the hard things, but because of the safety we build together, those moments can open doors instead of shutting them.
I specialize in trauma, disordered eating, ADHD and ASD in adults, body image concerns, religious trauma, illness and disability, LGBTQ+ needs, perfectionism, high achievement pressure, and life transitions. That’s the clinical language.
Here’s what it really means: I specialize in people. I listen closely, show up with compassion, and help you feel supported in ways that don’t reinforce the patterns keeping you stuck. Skills and training matter, of course, but they don’t mean much without a genuine and safe relationship between therapist and client.
For many people, the most healing part of therapy is the relationship itself — being able to experience true safety, speak openly, and know it will be respected and worked through together. I believe in being honest and real, in repairing when rupture happens, and in building a connection that makes it possible for me to challenge you when you need it. If we work together, you’ll feel both cared for and called in.
I draw from a range of therapeutic modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Gestalt Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). My approach is rooted in social justice, trauma-informed care, and the Health at Every Size (HAES)® framework, so you are met exactly as you are — fully seen, respected, and valued.

I’m not the therapist who only listens and smiles. I’ll bring the compassion and safety you need—and I’ll also push you when it counts. I’ll help you see the patterns keeping you stuck and support you in changing them. If you’re down for that, I’m the therapist for you.
I hold a Master of Social Work from Columbia University and dual Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology & Philosophy and Forensic Developmental Psychology from Boston University. I completed post-graduate training in Substance Use and Chemical Dependency at the Yale School of Medicine, along with specialized training in CBT-E for eating disorder treatment. I am affiliated with EMDRIA, IAEDP, ASDAH, and NASW, and have trained in the Body Trust Model through the Center for Body Trust.
Beyond my private practice, I provide consultation to therapists, coaches, and organizations who want to deepen their mental health competence. My work has been featured on professional panels, in educational programs, and in community dialogues on mental health and systemic oppression. To learn more about my work, please reach out here.
